The Freedom Writers (2007)

Synopsis of Freedom Fighters
The movie 'Freedom Writers' talks about the struggle of an first year teacher named Mrs. Erin Gruwell. The young passionate educator took up the challenge of teaching English to the students at Woodrow Wilson High School where lot of tensions and issues exist among the student and school community.
The moment Gruwell walked in, the students immediately put her down. However, unlike most first year teachers, she decided to fight back positively. She did not succumb to the social and administrative pressures of being an English teacher. During one of the scenes in the film, Gruwell intercepted a note being passed between students; the paper revealed a racist caricature full of hate. Gruwell told her class that it was this sort of hate and misunderstanding that led to the Holocaust (2007). This was instantly a teaching moment for her. She used this as a segway into teaching and fundraising for veterans. Her mentoring and leadership transformed the students to fight back to societal pressures. Thanks to Erin, almost 150 students graduated that year and went on to further their education.
